Power Weapons are rare, limited-availability weapons in Zombie Assault: Resurgence that can swing a mission on their own. There are five of them, one for each damage type, and they are not carried permanently: they arrive mid-mission from a Supply Drop and are meant to be the answer to a bad situation, not a permanent part of your build. They match your level, so they stay relevant as you progress.

How a Power Weapon reaches your mission

  1. A Supply Drop arrives mid-mission and brings one with it.
  2. You do not choose which one. When a Supply Drop brings a Power Weapon in, it is a random one of the five.
  3. It matches your level, so it stays relevant however far you have levelled.
  4. It is not a permanent part of your loadout. You use it in the run and you move on.

The models shown during the playtests were placeholders, and the final versions are bespoke and visually distinct. Which missions give out Supply Drops matters as much as which weapon you get, and the operations page covers how a mission is rolled.

The five Power Weapons

Power WeaponDamage typeWhat it does
HIKS M2831 Gatling GunPhysicalA refined rotating-barrel weapon that lays down overwhelming ballistic fire, described as the closest thing to a portable turret
Rancor Caustic FlareCorrosiveA pressurised spray cannon that lays down sheets of corrosive sludge and melts both shamblers and armored undead
RIA C163 HailstormCryoLaunches cryo-charged grenades that burst into explosive hemispheres of frost for crowd control
Teknoboom BalkengewehrEnergyA rifle-form concentrated beam weapon that burns through swarms with precise pulses
Morlok VesuviusThermalAn industrial-grade flamethrower that turns chokepoints into kill zones

Because each one is tied to a damage type, the resistance profile of what is chasing you decides how much value a given drop has. Zombies use resistances rather than weaknesses, so there is no multiplier to stack — the enemy side of that rule is on the enemies page.

Two rules that catch people out

  • The Tough modifier on an Operation removes Supply Drops altogether, so no Power Weapon can appear during a Tough run. Tough raises zombie levels and pays out more, so the trade is explicit: better rewards, no emergency weapon.
  • Carrying a Power Weapon counts as heavy equipment and applies a movement penalty. That is why the Core Skill Powerful Build exists — it reduces the movement penalty for hauling Power Weapons, and its capstone lets you carry more turrets and grenades into a mission.

One more environmental note: power units in the environment crush zombies in bulk, and they will flatten a mercenary standing in the wrong place as well. The skills page covers the other side of the weight problem.
