Tenebris Somnia controls on keyboard and mouse are: WASD moves Julia in eight directions and switches between walking and running, left-click interacts with whatever she is standing next to, Tab opens the inventory, and right-click raises or aims the weapon while left-click swings or shoots. There is no reload button and no dodge button.

What each input does

ActionKeyboard and mouseNotes
MoveWASDEight directions; the same keys switch between walking and running
InteractLeft mouse buttonYou can only interact with an object while facing it, from demo v0.4 onward
InventoryTabItem descriptions live here, and combining two items is done from this screen
Raise weapon / aimHold right mouse buttonThe same hold starts a firearm aim
Swing / shootLeft mouse button while raisedA swing in progress cannot be cancelled
Equip a weaponInventory screenSwitching mid-fight is slow, so equip the tool before entering a room

Two actions have no button at all. There is no dedicated reload: when a gun runs dry you left-click again from out of enemy range, and once a reload starts it cannot be cancelled. There is no dodge either — Julia's agility and running are the only evasive tools, and turning on the spot to avoid a creature is a common mistake. Which weapon each of those inputs drives is in the weapons guide.

How the Tenebris Somnia controls handle firing and reloading

The iron pipe reaches about twice as far as the wrench, but it is heavier and takes an extra animation step before the swing lands. That extra step is a trade: the longer reach keeps you out of danger, and the longer wind-up is when you are exposed. The wrench is quicker but has shorter reach.

Aim and shoot the same way — hold right-click to raise the revolver or shotgun, then left-click to fire. Reload between attacks and never during one, because the reload animation cannot be interrupted and mistiming it gets you killed.

Controller support and remapping

Full controller support is listed on the store page. Remapping is available for both keyboard-and-mouse and controller, with two presets on each side: keyboard-only and keyboard-and-mouse for the keyboard, and Xbox Classic and Xbox Modern for the pad. XInput-compatible controllers, Xbox button prompts and PlayStation/DualSense support all work, and the in-game options screen shows the live bindings for the scheme you are actually using.

A five-minute control check

No default key chart is guaranteed to hold for every build, so check your own bindings in the options menu before a long run, and run a five-minute check in a safe room:

  1. Walk in all eight directions.
  2. Interact with one object.
  3. Open the inventory and combine two items.
  4. Equip the wrench and swing once.
  5. Run, then stop dead.

If all five work, the controls are fine and the route continues from the apartment on Floor 3, which the walkthrough picks up from there.
