The Find The Needle demo updates and changes matter because the demo has moved fast since launch. It launched on September 10, 2026, and the biggest documented update is Demo V8, whose notes were published on September 11, 2026 UTC: it reworked conveyors, added the U-Splitter and U-Joiner, changed the power pole key, and repriced the Vacuum Yard by 80 percent.
Demo V8 reworked the conveyor system
- The conveyor at the Hay Sell Stand now snaps to the stand.
- You can decide whether conveyors snap at all, with F activating No Snap Mode.
- The conveyor belt system was completely reworked, so conveyors snap much more easily and have automatic pathfinding.
If your build behaves differently from an older video, this is usually why. The keys and what each one does are in conveyor controls and snapping.
Demo V8 changed power and machines
- Pressing E on a power pole lets you shut down the whole electricity network.
- A power network notification effect appears when power drops below the required threshold, so an under-powered line is marked on screen instead of failing silently.
- The Vacuum Yard price was reduced by 80 percent.
- The Pellet Disc Machine gained resource indicators such as BRICKS and HAY, so it now tells you what it is waiting for.
- New splitter and joiner types were added: the U-Splitters and U-Joiners.
The wiring pattern and the pole upgrades are in the power grid setup.
Other Demo V8 changes
- The default jump height was increased.
- In-game tips now appear.
- Loose hay on the ground turns into hay tufts to improve FPS.
- There were many more bug fixes.
The notes did not mention a fix for the reported 5-of-6 missing-needle situation.
Find The Needle demo updates and changes after V8
The demo has been updated again since then. It was changed on October 28, 2026 without published notes, and players are asking for the patch and change log to be posted on Steam, so check the game's Steam announcements and the Discord for the current state rather than assuming V8 is your build.
That matters more than usual right now: the community co-op mod is written against a specific demo build, so a silent demo update can break it. The multiplayer and co-op page lists the build each mod version expects and what to do when the MULTIPLAYER entry disappears after an update.
The full game was listed for Q4 2026 and now shows November 6, 2026 on the store, as a dated Early Access launch — the release and Early Access page has what that date means and the price status.
