The Phantom Blade Zero best weapons on launch builds split by situation rather than by a single tier list: Fiend Saws is the general-purpose standout, Jagged Steel is the boss pick, Outlaw Warblade is the survival option, and White Serpent and Crimson Viper is the crowd weapon. The recommended pairing is Fiend Saws as the main damage weapon with Outlaw Warblade as the secondary, so the secondary handles shielded enemies and supplies healing.
The Phantom Blade Zero best weapons by situation
| Situation | Weapon | Why |
|---|---|---|
| General purpose | Fiend Saws | Fastest attacks of the twin blades, the best guard-break opener of the set, and a Power Surge that turns your attacks unblockable |
| Boss fights | Jagged Steel | Bleed adds bonus damage that stacks, though it does nothing against Puppets and its low guard break makes shielded enemies harder |
| Survival | Outlaw Warblade | Lifesteal on attacks saves medicine charges, at the cost of draining your own health on Sha-Chi attacks |
| Crowds | White Serpent and Crimson Viper | Spinning area damage for groups, and the short blade can also be thrown |
| Fast opponents | The Fanatic's Broken Blade | Reaches further than other one-handers, which makes it the safest way to attack something quick |
The strongest Phantom Edges are a different set: Bashpole for heavy guard break and area damage, the Flying Dagger for ranged pressure with poison, the Hunter's Chain Sickle for gap closing and extra damage against bleeding enemies, the Heartrend Pipa for hitting enemies in mist, and the Puppeteer's Bell for summoning durable puppets that pull aggro.
An early-game loadout
A loadout that works before you have found much of the roster is Jagged Steel plus Scarlet Wraithblade as the primaries, with the Dread Axe for extra guard break after a Sha-Chi recovery and the Hunter's Chain Sickle, which also opens hidden paths, as the Phantom Edges. Pair them with the Battle Wraps, Reflex Device and Token of Pursuit accessories.
That combination is deliberately not a tier list. Build for the enemy instead: shielded enemies want the Shieldbreaker Talisman and the Dread Axe, and fleshy enemies want bleed.
Why a fixed tier list misleads
Two things make a single ranking unreliable. First, weapon growth changes movesets rather than only numbers, so a level 30 weapon plays very differently from a level 1 one. Second, the rankings are based on launch-build testing rather than on the full roster, so it is worth checking the numbers for the weapons you actually own rather than following one list. Keeping unused weapons at level 1 and reforging the ones you swap out returns their materials, which is the intended way to respec.
Turning picks into a build
A weapon is only half a loadout: accessories, Abilities and Phantom Edges decide whether it works. The builds page covers the early loadout in full, the accessories that carry real passive bonuses, and the upgrade order that avoids spreading your Remnant Dust thin.
