Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea jambalaya is a Frying Pan 2 dish and it takes three slots in a fixed order: an onion-type, a bell pepper, then a grain. Get the order or the appliance wrong and you get a Hodgepodge.

Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea jambalaya and the three slots

SlotAccepts
1One onion-type: Colorful Teardrop, Garlic, Jewel Onion, Leek, Monster Onion, Onion, Red Onion or Salad Onion
2One bell pepper: Bitter, Golden, Green, Magic, Red, Snow, White or Yellow Bell Pepper
3One grain: Ancient Rice, Barley or Rice

That is the whole recipe. The onion slot is the flexible one — any of the eight listed alliums works — while the bell pepper slot is a single pepper, not two.

Slot three: the grain

The grain slot is what makes the dish worth cooking at all: Ancient Rice and Barley are both accepted alongside plain Rice, and the three grains are not interchangeable with wheat-based staples. So a Rice-only crop rotation will not cover the recipe.

Ancient Rice and Ancient Wheat are also among the seeds you can only get from the free Harvest Wisps, so a Jambalaya rotation and a seed sweep overlap nicely. Where the seeds and the growing rules are is on the crops page.

Step 1: the appliance

Jambalaya is a Frying Pan 2 dish, so make sure Frying Pan 2 is the appliance you have selected before you start. The same ingredients in Frying Pan 1, the Saucepan or the Curry Pot will not produce it — the game will give you a Hodgepodge instead, which is edible and restores stamina but does not fill your recipe notebook.

The appliance lists for every cooker in the game are on the recipes page.

Fire Jambalaya is a two-step dish

There is also a Fire Jambalaya variant, which is Jambalaya (Dish) plus a fire item: Fireball Cabbage, Flame Eggplant, Flametongue, Lava Cabbage, Lava Crayfish, Lava Lettuce, Lava Mosquitofish or Lava-o'-Lantern.

Because it is a "(Dish)" entry you have to cook the plain Jambalaya first and then add the fire item, rather than trying to put all four ingredients in at once. That rule applies to every (Dish) recipe in the game — Stew into Truffle Soup and the four mushroom stews work the same way, and the full list of two-step recipes is on the recipes page.
