The Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea romance guide runs through the DocPad and through gifts: build friendship, give gifts, trigger the Musical Note icon, use the calendar for festivals, finish the main story, and then propose with the blue feather.
Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea romance guide, step by step
| Step | Do this | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Build friendship by talking and gifting | The DocPad resident directory fills in their likes and dislikes |
| 2 | Give gifts | Friendship points and Happilia points rise together |
| 3 | Trigger the Musical Note icon | The next heart event fires and the relationship advances |

| 5 | Finish the main game | Marriage only opens after the story and the Spirit Trees are done |
| 6 | Propose with the blue feather | You get married; pregnancy and one child follow |
Step 1: build friendship
Raising a character's friendship unlocks more information about them. The DocPad's resident directory automatically fills in their preferred likes and dislikes as the friendship level climbs, and the more you know a villager the fuller their profile becomes.
This is the only reliable way to get exact gift preferences, and it works for every villager rather than only the candidates. Which items each candidate is known to like is on the gift guide page.
Step 2: give gifts and watch the Musical Note
Gifting raises friendship points and Happilia points at the same time, so a gift is never wasted even when it is not the item that person cares about most.
Once the friendship with a candidate is high enough, a Musical Note icon appears on the minimap and on the regional map. Interact with it and the next friendship cutscene fires. The icon is easy to miss if you are zoomed in, so check the minimap after every gift session.
Step 3: use the calendar
The DocPad calendar tracks village completions and seasonal festivals, and both give a boost to your relationships with the residents. Every candidate also has a personal goal that plays into their storyline: Jane dreams of visiting the Maplehill University library, Aaron's story involves finding his stranded father, and Sergei's interest in the mist around the Forest of Echoes ties straight into the main mystery.
The festival dates themselves are fixed: Fishing Faceoff in Spring and Fall, Lantern Festival on Summer 8, Mining Meet on Summer 24 and Winter 24, Huge Hot Pot Festival on Winter 6 and the Maplehill Festival on Fall 13.
Step 4: finish the main story
Marriage only becomes possible after the main story is complete. You have to resolve the crisis around the Forest of Echoes and restore the Spirit Trees first.
That is a real gate, not a formality: the whole romance system becomes available at the post-ending chapter, when the credits roll after Harvest Goddess Chapter 1 and Tiny explains how to become platonic best friends or romantic partners. The list of everyone you can pursue is on the romance options page.
Step 5: propose with the blue feather
Once the story is finished and the tokens of love are available, the endgame is the classic one: hand over the blue feather and the proposal happens.
You cannot get married without it, and community discussion of the late game confirms that handing over the token of love can be a prerequisite for the next quest as well. After the wedding comes pregnancy, which leads to children; the game currently caps you at one child. The token and feather mechanics are on the heart events page.
