The Probably Stolen evaporator is the machine for boiling solvent off a solution and for purifying alcohol. Its panel takes a Battery, a Module, a Container and a Distillate output. Alcohol is purified in the evaporator, which is why pure-grade reagents are reachable only if you can make or buy enough raw alcohol.
Probably Stolen Evaporator: The Panel And Its Four Slots
| Slot | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Battery | The power source that runs the cycle |
| Module | A module slot like the other machines have |
| Container | The mixture you are boiling |
| Distillate | The output that comes off the top |
That layout matches the other production machines, and the machines and modules page has the full slot list and what energy sources and bays they need.
Two Uses: Pure Alcohol And Solvent
Purifying alcohol is the main use. Pure-grade reagents depend on it, so the evaporator is the step between raw alcohol and anything you want to call a reagent. The titration step that turns those reagents into a sellable product is on the chemical crafting page.
Boiling is also a water tool. Heating water on a Heating Plate removes impurities and contaminants, so boiling is a cheap way to make a surplus of pure water without investing in a purifier. Version 1.0 added the heat-treatment water purifier as the machine version of the same idea, and hotfix 1.0.0.2 reworked the Water Purifier so its cycle stops at a set purity level instead of a soft limit.
Evaporation Is Lossy
Mixing acid and base solutions in the machine evaporates some of the liquid — players describe it as close to fully evaporating — so plan container volume before you neutralise a reaction.
One more 1.0 change worth knowing: version 1.0 also added a 20 L expandable water tank, which gives the Moisture Farm and the purifier more room to work in.
