Probably Stolen counterfeit goods are made with the labelers, and the rule is simple: the blue and red labelers resticker a product's origin or cut its quality, which lets you pass counterfeit product off as genuine. The achievement Lower Levels Special tracks changing the label of any item using the labeler.
Probably Stolen Counterfeit Stock: How The Labelers Work
- The blue and red labelers each handle one axis of the label: origin or quality.
- Use them in the back rather than in front of Security.
- Keep them in Dr. Jackson's Toolbox so they are not lying on the counter when a customer looks. The Toolbox is sold after day 14, and keys 1 to 9 equip the matching tool.
- Relabelling is a deliberate crime, not a shortcut. It needs a hiding spot and a bribe budget, and it is the trade that brings mob justice to the store.
The appraisal guide covers the other side of the same transaction — reading a fake that someone else is trying to sell you.
Who Buys Counterfeits
The target market is the arrogant upper-level elite. Selling counterfeit goods to them is a legitimate profit route in the game, and the tiering is enforced at SKU level: Premium Spring Water carries the Water tag but is refused by non-Upper-Level customers and tourists.
That is also why labelling is a choice with a price. Upper-level money pays for a convincing fake, but a raid or a failed inspection wipes out the margin in one visit. The upper-level elite that buys the fakes is one of the four groups the factions and reputation page covers, so their standing is part of the trade.
Why Relabelling Is Riskier Than Confronting
Correcting a fake is a different transaction from creating one. Confronting a seller over a confirmed discrepancy is the cheap, reputation-safe option — the price drops and your standing survives. Relabelling carries raid and inspection risk on top of everything else: hot stock that gets found is confiscated, and a confiscation is the money you spent plus the profit you expected.
So judge a relabelling batch by what is left over after a worst case, not by the sticker price of the goods. The contraband and inspection page covers where hot stock can and cannot be kept.
