Probably Stolen how to haggle is a per-transaction lever, not a reputation system. The haggling window opens at the top right of the buy and sell tablet, immediately left of the exit button, and it is unlocked as part of the tutorial — so it can look missing on your first days.
Probably Stolen How To Haggle: Where The Window Is
Once it is unlocked, the window shows alternating prices: you push a seller's price down and a buyer's price up. The merchant tells you the discount he will take. Every trade also carries your difficulty's retail markup on top of the price:
| Difficulty | Retail markup |
|---|---|
| Price Gouge (Cozy) | 20% |
| Mark Up (Normal) | 15% |
| Thin Margins (Hard) | none |
Haggle shifts the price on the deal in front of you, while standing shifts who walks in and what they will accept. That is the difference between the two systems, and the factions and reputation page covers the second one.
What The Numbers Do To Your Margin
Suppliers overstate value, so the price they offer is itself a signal — and appraisal, not haggling, is what stops you overpaying for a rare item. The appraisal guide covers how that work is done; it is a separate transaction that pays a commission, so it is worth doing even when you walk away from the deal.
Push the price down on the things you want to resell, push the buyer's price up on the things you are about to sell, and let the money page decide which line of income the improved margin actually came from.
