Probably Stolen rat breeding is a genetics puzzle with a food bill attached. Every trait has two alleles and the displayed stat is their average, so two rats both showing Growth 1.40 may be 1.40/1.40 or 1.20/1.60 — the gene scanner is what tells them apart.
Probably Stolen Rat Breeding: Reading A Rat's Genes
- Each inherited allele has a 15% mutation chance.
- A successful mutation has a 5% chance of a x3 multiplier, so a big mutation event lands on roughly 0.75% of inherited alleles.
- There is no hard cap; distant alleles just become harder to push further from the baseline.
The breeding rule that holds the whole line together: Growth up, Hunger down, Immunity to 50, keep a decent Litter Size along with Health and Longevity, breed your best together, and replace parents with better offspring.
Food, Hunger And Growth
Hunger. A lower Hunger Rate is better. A newborn starts at 125/500 Hunger and feeding brings it to about 425/500, a 300 kcal first feeding; afterwards the rat eats its genetic rate per day. Below 400 current Hunger growth slows, reaching about 50% at zero — so starving a rat is bad.
Growth. The base weight curve is age 0 = 5 g, age 1 = 50 g, age 3 = 200 g, age 5 = 350 g, age 11 = 450 g, age 14 = 400 g. From age 1 to 5 a rat grows about 75 g multiplied by its Growth Rate per day; from age 5 to 11 only about 16.67 g multiplied by Growth Rate; from age 11 the weight falls by about 16.67 g multiplied by Growth Rate per day. Elder rats lose value while you keep feeding them.
Food efficiency decides whether the cage pays for itself:
| Feed | Calories per credit |
|---|---|
| Peat | about 34 |
| Puice | about 32 |
| Instant Ramen | 25 |
| Nutrifruit | 25 |
| Processed Cheese | 22.5 |
| Li-Eat Snack Bar | 14.7 |
| Cat Chocolate | 14 |
Peat at 850 kcal for 25 credits is about 34 kcal per credit, the best of the list. Nutrifruit is the one you can grow yourself on the hydroponic page, and the rest are on the item list page.
Immunity, Prion Disease And The Breeding Rule
Ordinary disease has a mechanical breakpoint at 50. The species baseline is 50, and I20 is about 17%, I30 about 13%, I40 about 9%, while I50 and above is 0%. Pushing past 50 gains you nothing against ordinary disease.
Prion disease is separate and is not stopped by Immunity 50. Prion chance equals 100 minus Immunity percent, and a prion rat gets Growth -20%, Immunity -20% and Longevity -20% with no recovery route. Prion comes from feeding rats rat meat, contaminated feeder food can cause guaranteed exposure, and butchering a prion rat produces prion-tagged meat.
Butchering is by weight bracket:
| Cut | Value |
|---|---|
| Small Morsel | 15 credits |
| Morsel | 30 credits |
| Raw Meat (Small) | 60 credits |
| Raw Meat (Standard) | 120 credits |
400 g is the threshold for the top cut but it is not an optimal final weight — the question is the value of the next bracket minus the food and cage time to reach it, and a growing juvenile is worth more per cage-day than a stalled adult.
