How to beat Omega in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE? It is level 99 with 9,999,999 HP and a stagger gauge of 15,000, and it is the last fight of the Colosseum's Champion League: Champion Battle 5. It gives no EXP and no gil, only the Omega Badge and an X-Ether on a repeat win. The badge cannot be bought or found anywhere else, and Omega never appears in a random battle.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE how to beat Omega

Lightning is its only weakness. Every other element does nothing useful, so the whole fight is about managing how often you hit with Lightning and how you survive what happens in between.

The fight order, step by step

  1. Reach level 99 with the full stat lines and put a "+" Legendary Arm on every hero who deals damage. Each "+" form raises the damage cap to 99,999, and without it every hit stops at the cap.
  2. Fill the second accessory slot with protection: a Safety Bit or the Super Ribbon against Blaster's Instant Death, a Ribbon against Blind, Silence and Confuse. Bring Reraise, because a character knocked out by Instant Death comes back on their own with it.
  3. Take the party listed below: one Lightning attacker, one attacker for a different element, and one healer who can act after every Wave Cannon.
  4. Never land three hits of one element in a row. Two Lightning hits are fine, the third activates the mono-elemental dampener, and only a hit of a different element breaks the chain.
  5. Break the gauge, then expect Blaster. The moment a stagger ends it fires Blaster at a random character with a 60% chance of Instant Death, so whoever breaks Omega should be the one with the most HP and a safety accessory.
  6. Keep the Wave Cannon count in sight: 5 down to 1, one number every other action of Omega's, and then the whole party takes magic damage.
  7. Read the mode from the screen before you commit. Standard mode acts three times a turn and runs the countdown; alert mode acts twice, answers every attack with a counter and unleashes the devastating attacks. Between 60% and 80% and between 20% and 40% of its HP, fewer and bigger hits beat many small ones.
  8. Work the gauge as well as the HP. 9,999,999 HP against a 99,999 cap is a long fight, and Tronn's Deshell puts Deshell back on Omega every time it breaks.

The mono-elemental dampener

Two hits of one element in a row are fine. The third makes the screen say "Activating mono-elemental dampener... enhancing offensive protocol...", and from then on its counters and its Wave Cannon get stronger. Only a hit of another element breaks the chain, so plan your turns around a Lightning hit followed by a different element.

Two modes, announced on screen

The mode is decided by its HP and announced before you commit.

  • Standard mode: it acts three times a turn, and only this mode runs the Wave Cannon countdown.
  • Alert mode: it acts twice, every attack you make gets a counter, and its devastating attacks come out.

In alert mode, between 60% and 80% of its HP or between 20% and 40% of its HP, fewer and bigger hits beat many small ones, since every attack you make is answered.

The Wave Cannon countdown

Wave Cannon has a visible countdown that runs from 5 down to 1, one number every other action of Omega's, and then it hits the whole party with magic. With the dampener active it fires the stronger Wave Cannon+.

Blaster is the real danger

The moment a stagger ends, it fires Blaster at a random character, with a 60% chance of Instant Death. Since a stagger is the whole point of the fight, Blaster is what decides the run.

The damage cap comes first

Reach level 99 with the full stat lines and put a "+" Legendary Arm on every hero who deals damage, because each hero's "+" form raises the damage cap to 99,999 and without it every hit stops at the cap. The second accessory slot is for protection: a Safety Bit or the Super Ribbon against Blaster's Instant Death, and a Ribbon against Blind, Silence and Confuse. Bring Reraise, because a character knocked out by Instant Death comes back on their own with it. Where every arm comes from, and which one belongs to which hero, is on the legendary arms page.

The party that does it

  • Sakura with Tronn: Tonitus and Thundaga for the Lightning, Blighted Gloom for Dark and Luminant Glim for Light in between, and Tronn's Deshell to put Deshell back on Omega every time it breaks.
  • Lasswell with Lightning: Thunderfall is the biggest Lightning stagger in the game, and Absolving Hailstorm fills the Ice gap.
  • Jake with Cloud: Blitzstrahl and Thundaga Surge are Lightning, Aeroga and Gale Strike are Wind.
  • Fina with Leah: Curaga after every Wave Cannon, Esuna on whoever Disaster caught, Shellga against the magic, and the Super Ribbon on her, because she is the one who has to keep acting.

Omega is also one of the 15 Colosseum bosses, the last of the Champion League, and that same fight is the reason the Champion League has no trophy of its own.

The rest of the Colosseum

The other 19 fights are spread across the Fledgling, Brawler and Gladiator leagues, each with its own first-win reward and its own consumable for repeat wins. The full league-by-league breakdown is on the Colosseum page.
