The Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea ore and gems come in 26 types across 144 breakable nodes, and every node respawns after 3 days — so a resource route can be farmed on a loop rather than exhausted.

Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea ore and gems and the two node tiers

The Expert Pickaxe is crafted by Glenn in Quarrytop from 1 Old Pickaxe + 3 Bronze + 4 Square Lumber + 2,000 G, and it is the gate on the entire upper tier.

The two pickaxe tiers

Doc Jr. points out that while you can collect Gold Ore with an Old Pickaxe, you will need the Expert Pickaxe for Raw Garnet Gemstone. It is worth buying the pickaxe upgrade before you start looking for the rare stones.

Until you have it, the upper-tier nodes will not break at all, so a cave run above the tier is wasted time. The full node list and where the caves are is on the dungeons page, and the mine itself is on the mine floors page.

Mining is a lot more straightforward here than in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. Valuable resources are visible in the environment rather than hidden, so when you spot an ore deposit or gemstone vein you break it and collect what is inside.

Where diamond ore sits

Diamond is one of the hardest materials in the game. It appears as a Raw Diamond Gemstone node, and there are exactly 3 of them in the whole world:

RegionLocation
MaplehillConcealed Cave of the Pathway, 201 m southwest of Maplehill Town
MaplehillSand-Covered Cave, 118 m northeast of Fall Crossing Valley
DesertQuicksand Labyrinth, 159 m south of Sandy Sanctuary

All three are marked "Needs the Expert Pickaxe or better" and all three respawn after 3 days, so a Diamond route is repeatable rather than one-and-done.

The desert one needs a Dromedary Camel, because the camel is the only mount that crosses the shifting sand rivers and reaches that corner of the desert. The request that needs Diamond is on the villager requests page.

Two routes that catch people out

The first mine is very early: from the beach in Bloomfield, walk into the shallow water to the right of the beach and you reach a cave with silver and bronze in it.

And the best spot for Moonstone is under the university: go up the winding path to the right of the university entrance, through the gate on your left, across a bridge, and into the Garden of Wisdom, then look along the west wall for a small ramp leading down into a dungeon containing Moonstone. Other precious ores, including Moonstone and its companions, are also in a dungeon in the desert's south-west corner, reachable only with a camel.

Mining is a lot more straightforward here than in Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. Valuable resources are visible in the environment rather than hidden, so when you spot an ore deposit or gemstone vein you break it and collect what is inside. You can also buy ore bags from Travis: Small (5 varieties), Regular (15) and Large (30).

The two collection achievements

The Ore Collector achievement — "Obtained every gems and ores" — is the completion goal for the full set of 26, and the Wow! Sparkles Everywhere! achievement is the smaller milestone for obtaining 10 different ores.

Both fit into the same three-day loop as the treasure search areas, which is why the DocPad dowsing function is worth upgrading early. The search areas and the refill timers are on the treasure page.
