The 72 Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea treasure chests are containers you open, and they are one of two treasure systems — the other is the 50 Treasure Search Areas, which are dowsing spots you dig on the spot.
Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea treasure chests and search areas
| System | Count | How |
|---|---|---|
| Treasure chests | 72 | Open a chest that is already on the map |
| Treasure Search Areas | 50 | Use Dowsing within 5 m of the marked point |
The chests split into 66 one-shot containers and 6 that refill on a timer. The search areas split into 14 one-time finds and 36 that come back on a timer of 1, 2, 3 or 5 days, so a route you clear once is worth re-running later.
72 treasure chests
66 of the chests open once and are then empty; the remaining six are on the islands and refill on a timer with rolled contents.
One-shot examples: a Toolbox ×1 in Bloomfield, 72 m northwest of Bloomfield Village; Ancient Silver Coins ×1 in Maplehill, 124 m west of Maplehill Town; Ancient Gold Coins ×1 in Maplehill at the Stone Pillar Skyscraper, 329 m north of Maplehill Town; Small Sprinkler ×3 in Maplehill, 135 m northeast of Fall Crossing Valley; Cold Mushroom ×10 in Maplehill at Sand Shadow Lighthouse, 165 m southwest of Fall Crossing Valley; High-Quality Fabric ×3 in Maplehill Upper Valley East, 138 m northeast of Fall Crossing Valley.
Other one-shot contents include Lantern Oil ×10, Minced Shrimp ×10, Pine Seedling ×1, Miracle Potion ×1, Desert Fertilizer ×20, the regional fertilisers and the Uncharted Territory Nautical Chart.
The refilling six: a chest on Ancient Island rolls Ancient Bronze Coins ×1, Egg ×3 or Sunflower Seeds ×5 and refills every 5 days; the chests on Treasure Island and in Uncharted Territory roll Ancient White Gold Coins, Silkie Egg, Araucana Egg, Ancient Gold Coins, Ancient Silver Coins or Sunflower Seeds and refill every 15 days. One chest on Sprummer Island is a story event chest. The Second-Hand Goods Collection achievement is for opening 10 treasure chests, so they are worth a dedicated sweep. The chests also hand out some of the ore and gemstone stock — the full node list is on the ore and gems page.
50 treasure search areas
Treasure Search Areas are the dowsing spots. There are 50 of them across the map, and the instruction attached to every one of them is the same: use Dowsing within 5 m of this point. You need the dowsing tool or ability to find them, and then the dig spot yields a rolled reward.
They are not all permanent: 14 are one-time finds, 7 refill every day, 12 every 2 days, 14 every 3 days and 3 every 5 days. The Eureka! achievement is for using dowsing at all.
The rewards roll too — coins, ores such as Silver Ore ×3, Bronze Ore ×3, Gold Ore ×3 and Platinum Ore ×2 as a 30% rare, fossils like Ammonite, Mammoth Tusk, Coelacanth and Dinosaur Fang, and porcelain antiques including Antique Cow Porcelain, Antique Chicken Porcelain and a rare Velociraptor Earthenware. Desert Fertilizer ×10 is a standard reward at the search area in Maplehill, 135 m east of Fall Crossing Valley, with a 30% chance of ×20 instead.
13 of the search areas double as parts of the Sphere puzzle for a nearby Power Statue, so digging them also moves you towards the Power Wisp set. The broad collectable pools are on the collectables page.
How to sweep them efficiently
The search areas need the DocPad dowsing function, which Doc Jr. adds in Maplehill — the device becomes the DocPad Zero Doc Jr. Edition with a dowsing function that locates items hidden underground such as ore, and it can also point you toward Power Wisp Statues.
So the order is: get the dowsing function in Maplehill, then sweep the 5-day and 3-day respawn points on a regular circuit. The ore nodes themselves also respawn on a 3-day timer, so the same loop covers both systems — the ore side is on the ore and gems page.
