Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea town plots are small pieces of land you can claim in each town you discover, and they solve a specific problem: a town plot keeps its own season year-round, so it is the place to grow crops that are out of season in Bloomfield.

Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea town plots and why they matter

RuleDetail
SeasonThe plot keeps the season of the area it sits in, all year
UseGrowing crops that are out of season at your home farm
FenceRequired, so storms do not damage the crops
WaterYou must water it yourself until you unlock sprinklers

So a plot in a Winter town gives you winter crops while Bloomfield is in another season, and a plot in a Summer town does the same for summer produce. That is the whole point of claiming them.

The five farm sites

There are five potential farm sites: Bloomfield Village, Tidewind Village, Quarrytop Village, Maplehill Town and the Harvest Moon Garden in the Forest of Echoes. The Bloomfield site is available from the start; Quarrytop, Maplehill and the Harvest Moon Garden unlock later in the story.

Which farm you sit on decides your soil and therefore your mutations — the bell pepper trio is the clearest example, since Magic, Bitter and White are all Yellow Bell Pepper mutations that depend on the farm. The crop list and plot counts are on the crop mutation page, and what you can actually grow is on the crops page.

Moving your farm

You move your farm with the transport mechanism, which unlocks from an audio message on the DocPad. The message is triggered by an old red sign near where you first enter Tidewind: the voice explains it received a transmission from a sign set up decades ago and configures the DocPad to activate the transport mechanism.

When you activate it, your house and barn — plus the animals inside them — are transported to the new location. Any crops still growing at the old location stay there, so harvest before you move. Moving is not permanent, so the practical routine is to work one region at a time and relocate when the story pushes you. The Harvest Moon Garden is the base that needs a full Forest Happilia bottle, and the Happilia page explains how to get one.

Two region caveats that change how you play

Tidewind is so wet that grazing is not allowed there. Livestock moved to Tidewind must stay indoors and you need enough Animal Feed for them. The same constant rain means you never have to water crops in Tidewind.

Storm country needs fences. A town plot has to be fenced so storms do not damage the crops, and until you unlock sprinklers you have to water it by hand even in the rain.

Both caveats push back on the farming loop described on the crops page, so decide where you are living before you plan a rotation.

Which region to settle in first

A sensible order is: stay in Bloomfield while you learn the systems, since the village gives you three requests in the first chapter and the Animal Center is right there. Move to Tidewind when the ocean content opens up, and treat that as a fishing base rather than a farming one, because of the no-grazing rule.

The Harvest Moon Garden in the Forest of Echoes is the late-game base and the one that ties into the Forest of Echoes story. The whole flow of that region is on the Forest of Echoes page.
