The Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea forest of echoes is the mist-covered region at the top of the map and the source of the game's central problem. You do not fight the mist — you out-manoeuvre it.
Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea forest of echoes and how it is split
The forest is split into four outer areas — Forest of Echoes North Area, East Area, South Area and West Area — plus the Harvest Goddess Glade in the middle and, beyond it, the Heart of the Harvest Goddess Forest. All six are among the 33 warp statue destinations.
The glade itself is reachable early: it holds the Harvest Goddess statue where you exchange Power Wisp Fruit for upgrades, plus a small warp statue that unlocks fast travel to any statue you have already activated.
The South Area opens once you have restored Nera's Tidewind tree, and the map also marks 7 dungeon entrances inside the forest region, so the area is worth clearing once you can get in properly.
The whole approach, in order:
- Craft the Mist-Dispelling Lantern in Maplehill.
- Fill and cap the Forest Happilia bottle.
- Light the torch in the glade with the lantern.
- Walk the misty passage and use Clear Mist three times.
- Use the Forest Happilia on the Harvest Goddess Tree.
Step 1: the Mist-Dispelling Lantern
The deep forest needs three specific things, and the first is the lantern.
Doc Jr. and Sergei build it in Maplehill after you break into Sergei's Impenetrable Lab — you climb the vine to the cliff above the lab and drop down the chimney. The materials are 5 Bronze, 5 Silver and 5 Crystal, and the Raw Crystal Gemstone can be found from floor 12 of the Quarrytop Mine or in the Great Cavern at the Foot of Mount Quarrytop.
The upgraded lantern has double the capacity of Glenn's plain Lantern but still requires Lantern Oil, which is 1 Pine Sap and 1 G per bottle. The floor 12 source is on the mine floors page.
Step 2: a capped bottle of Forest Happilia
You earn the Forest Happilia mainly by collecting Power Wisp Fruit and by camping outdoors, with only a tiny amount coming naturally each day — which means the two systems you unlock in the early game, statues and camping, are what feed it.
This bottle is the middle, green one, and it is the one that has to be capped before you can venture into the Heart of the Harvest Goddess Forest. The whole storage and spending system is on the Happilia page.
Step 3: light the torch and clear the mist
The third requirement is a lit torch in the glade. Use the Mist-Dispelling Lantern on the flame to light it, then walk the misty passage and use the "Clear Mist" action three times, since the lantern only clears a short distance at a time.
Past the third patch of mist you reach the Heart of the Harvest Goddess Forest. It is lightly misted with limited visibility but you do not need the lantern any more, and there are no wild animals there, so it is safe to explore.
A warp statue directly across from the passage unlocks the area on your DocPad map, and the path through is lit by fire torches leading northeast, then west, then south, until you reach the centre where the enormous Harvest Goddess Tree stands.
Step 4: the ending
Using the Forest Happilia on the Harvest Goddess Tree restores it, returns Tiny to her full size and ends the main story with the credits rolling.
The post-ending content opens immediately afterwards: the statue in the glade can craft biome-specific fertiliser — Lava, Desert and so on — and the tokens used for friendship and romance with the marriage candidates. The chapter list is on the walkthrough page, and the romance tokens are on the heart events page.
