Probably Stolen low FPS is capped at 60 by default. The game ships with a hardcoded 60 FPS cap, the developer has confirmed there is currently no in-game option to remove it, and the community fix is the Steam Workshop mod "Probably Smoother: FPS Unlock", which removes the cap so the game runs at your monitor's refresh rate — 144, 165, 240 Hz and so on.

Probably Stolen Low FPS Fix: The FPS Unlock Mod

  1. Open the Steam Workshop for the game and subscribe to Probably Smoother: FPS Unlock.
  2. Enable it from the game's own Mods panel in the main menu — mods are opt-in and the workshop subscription alone does nothing.
  3. Start the game and confirm the frame rate now follows your monitor's refresh rate.

The mod does not touch the minimized cap. Separately, the game caps itself at 10 FPS while minimized, and UPDATE 049 added an in-game setting to disable that cap. If that setting is enabled, the FPS Unlock mod leaves the minimized cap working.

The mods page has the full list of what shipped at launch and how the loader handles them.

Other Frame Rate And Display Fixes

  • Ultrawide tooltips. Hotfix 1.0.0.1 fixed info tooltips appearing behind their window on ultrawide and other non-16:9 fullscreen displays.
  • Windows snapping back. The same hotfix fixed resized Wanted board, Exchange sheet and Tablet windows snapping back on non-16:9 monitors.
  • Black bars. UPDATE 049 added the option to dock UI onto the black bars in non-16:9 fullscreen.
  • Slow sleep and save. UPDATE 049 sped up the sleep load and save that came after a black screen.
  • Fresh Windows 11 machines. UPDATE 049 also included work to stop Windows 11 Smart App Control blocking the launch on a fresh machine.

If the handheld is the machine you are playing on, the Steam Deck page covers the controls side of the same setup.
