Tensei Brave combat guide in one line: it is a turn-based command battle, so every turn you pick 攻撃 (Attack), 防御 (Defend) or スキル (Skill) and the whole turn resolves at once.
Tensei Brave combat guide: what one turn looks like
- Read the party column. The right-hand column lists every member with their portrait, HP and MP, plus small icons for their weapon and their current condition.
- Pick a command. 攻撃 (Attack), 防御 (Defend) and スキル (Skill) sit side by side, and items can be used from the same command set.
- Watch the field. A green enemy HP bar overlays the field, the TURN counter sits at the bottom left, and an 興奮度 (excitement) meter with hearts is shown at the top left.
- Use the hotkeys if you prefer the keyboard. The bottom row holds ヘルプ[H] (Help), エフェクトON[E] (toggle effects), ログ[L] (Log) and 逃げる[N] (Flee).
- Handle dialogue with the keyboard. Dialogue boxes take Z/Enter to confirm, X/ESC for settings, S for auto-advance, Q for the log and Ctrl to skip.
Ending a fight early
Two buttons on the battle screen end a fight without a win. The 逃げる[N] hotkey flees, and the 降参 (Surrender) button at the end of the party column surrenders — either way you leave the fight without the experience a victory would give. If you would rather not enter the fight at all, encounters inside the dungeons are contact-based and can be walked past; the avoid battles guide covers the world map switch and how to skip a fight before it starts.
Winning and losing
Winning a battle gives experience and levels the party up, which is the main way characters grow.
Losing is not a plain game over. The heroine who beats you plays a fully voiced defeat scene, and the same thing happens when you are seduced outside of an ordinary encounter. That is why an unwanted fight can still cost you something even when you had no intention of starting it.
Choosing a difficulty before the run
The game ships with selectable difficulty, and you pick it before you start. The one difficulty difference the game points out is about the recruitment fight: it is deliberately a little harder than an ordinary enemy encounter, so that first duel is where the choice shows.
If the duels feel too steep, the answer is more allies rather than a different build. Each heroine you bring in joins with a field ability and adds a member to the party, which is what the recruit allies guide covers.
