The FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE adamantite locations number 8, and each piece is the hardest upgrade material in the game. Each one is found once, none of them comes back, and all eight feed the same place: Aileen's forge on the airship, where one piece becomes one hero weapon.

The two in the Oblivion Palace are the ones most players miss, because they only open once you have paid the princess that many shards. Everything here is missable-proof in the other direction: you can collect all eight at your own pace and come back to the Deck whenever you hold one.

The quest that opens Aileen's forge

Aileen is a Vision as well as a weaponsmith, and the forge stays shut until you recruit her. The quest is called Forger of Wills, it appears in chapter 5 once you have to find Mysidia, and the Gossiping Girl in Dilmagia starts it. The steps are:

  1. Search for the woman who led the rebellion in Dilmagia. She is at the Shipyard.
  2. Gather information on Aileen in each region: one person in Dilmagia, one in the Rebel Hideout and one in the Village of Kol, in any order.
  3. Find Aileen at the shipyard in Dilmagia and answer her questions. The answers she wants, in order, are "It's a tool of harm", then "A way to rebel against troubling times", then "Craft weapons that suit each of us well". A wrong answer only ends the talk, and you can try again.

The quest also adds one Magicite. Until chapter 6 begins she says she wants to see how you fight first; when the airship reaches Gronoa at the start of chapter 6 she is ready, and she stays on the Deck for the rest of the game. Her Mastery Rank plays no part in the forging — from then on one Adamantite is all she asks for.

If you want the side quest list itself, it is on the side quests page.

How the forge turns one piece into a weapon

Talk to Aileen with an Adamantite in your bag. She asks who the weapon is for and lists every hero who does not have theirs yet. Pick one, confirm, and one Adamantite becomes that hero's weapon on the spot. Change your mind before you confirm and nothing is spent. Each hero gets one weapon, and it leaves her list once made — none of the eight can be sold, so a weapon never comes back to the list either.
