This FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE how to beat Bahamut guide starts from one fact: Bahamut has no weakness at all, so the fight is won with plan rather than with damage. He is level 50 with 200,000 HP and a stagger gauge of 1,500, and you reach him in chapter 7, where the two mechanics below decide it.

FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE how to beat Bahamut

  1. Get the airship ready. Once you hold the seven other espers — Carbuncle, Ramuh, Leviathan, Ifrit, Shiva, Titan and Odin — Fina hears a voice calling from far away the next time you step inside the airship. Tell Evan you are ready and he sets course.
  2. Bring a party with several elements. He has no weakness, so elemental coverage is not about exploiting him; it is about avoiding the counter below.
  3. Rotate elements and never land three of the same in a row. Below 80% HP he stores the elements he takes, and every third hit of the same element triggers a party-wide counter spell.
  4. Plan for Megaflare. His signature move runs a visible countdown from 4 down to 1, and when it reaches zero it hits the whole party with a 7-hit attack. It is non-elemental magic damage, so nothing blocks it — either end the fight before the countdown finishes or survive it.
  5. Stagger him. A staggered Bahamut loses his turn and takes more damage. That is the whole fight, because there is no weakness to exploit.

You need the other seven first

Bahamut is not a dwelling and not a side quest: the seven espers are the unlock. Each one is a separate trial with its own weakness and its own gauge, and the order that works best is simply the story order — Siren in chapter 1, Ramuh in chapter 2, Carbuncle and Leviathan in chapter 3, Titan from chapter 4, Ifrit and Shiva in chapter 5, Odin in chapter 6. Every step is on the espers page.

The two mechanics that decide it

MechanicWhat happensWhat you do
Stored-element counterBelow 80% HP he stores each element he takes, and every third hit of the same element fires a party-wide counter spellRotate elements so no element lands three times in a row
MegaflareA visible countdown from 4 to 1, then a 7-hit attack on the whole party, non-elemental magic damageBreak him before the countdown reaches zero, or heal through it

Non-elemental stagger values

Because he has no weakness, the attacks that matter are the non-elemental ones, and stagger power beats raw damage. The best in the game:

A 1,500 gauge means you need three to four of those in a round, so plan the rotation instead of throwing everything at the same target.

The rewards

50,000 EXP, 18,750 gil and one Magicite Cryst, which is one of the hardest pieces of awakening material in the game. Two trophies come out of the esper line as a whole: Esper's Covenant for three espers and The Sovereigns of the Planet for all nine.

After the espers are done, the rest of the game's optional fights are still waiting, and they are on the optional bosses page.
