The FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE esper locations number 9, and Fina is the one who summons them. One joins with the story, five wait in an esper dwelling, two are side quest rewards and one calls you himself. Every one of them can be beaten, and every one of them pays a piece of magicite on top of its own drop.

The dwelling walkthrough, step by step

The mechanism is the same for every dwelling. Townsfolk talk about espers, and once you have heard the rumour the dwelling is marked on your world map as a general area rather than an exact spot. You can decline the challenge and come back later, and the dwelling stays reachable for the rest of the game.

  1. Siren is the one you get for free with the story in chapter 1, at the top of Siren's Tower, after which she joins Fina.
  2. Ramuh on Dirnado, chapter 2: take the hidden path into Mt. Thunderclap, whose entrance is close to the Dwarven Forge. He asks about the thunder first, and the answer he wants is "It's terrifying" — the other two only make him ask again. At a few points in the story he does not show himself, so come back after the next story step.
  3. Carbuncle on Olderion, chapter 3: read the stele at the back of the Ruby Cave first, then collect the three Ruby Fragments, which appear on the Olderion map one after the other only once the stele has been read, and bring them back to the stele. There is no fight at all.
  4. Leviathan at Lake Dorr on Olderion: you fight it in chapter 3, but the esper only joins Fina at the end of Nichol's Duty, which Nichol hands out in Olderion from chapter 5. The quest's one fight is a level 40 Sahagin southeast of Olderion, and the quest ends back at Lake Dorr through the Cave of Waters, with no second fight against Leviathan.
  5. Titan on Grandport: win Fledgling Battle 5 at the Colosseum, which recommends level 32, for the Gaia Hammer, then break the sealing stone in the desert east of Siren's Tower. The rumour at Grandport Harbor points the way but is not required. The Colosseum opens at the start of chapter 4, so he is within reach from then on.
  6. Ifrit on Zoldaad, chapter 5: fly the airship into the crater of the volcano east of Zoldaad, the Imperial Capital.
  7. Shiva on Mysidia, chapter 5: land the airship on the small island covered in ice southwest of Mysidia and step into the blizzard.
  8. Odin on Gronoa, chapter 6: start Iron Splitter at Bladerain Stele, cross the miasma bog with Holy, beat Odin's Shadow on the western precipice, and bring the sword to the Nameless Ruins.
  9. Bahamut, chapter 7: he is not a dwelling. He calls you, and Evan flies you to him.
The FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE world map: the red and gold airship flies over a blue sea toward a pale island, with green hills in the foreground and a sailing ship on the water to the left.
A dwelling is marked as a general area on the world map once you have heard the rumour.

How summoning works

You equip an esper from Equipment in the main menu, the same way you equip a Vision, and Fina is the one who calls it. One esper at a time, it stays three turns, and each summon costs 50 MP, so a long battle is a rotation problem rather than a damage problem.

What the trials pay

Siren, Ramuh and Leviathan pay a Magicite Shard, Ifrit, Shiva and Titan pay a Magicite, and Odin and Bahamut pay a Magicite Cryst. Every source of magicite, and what awakening a Vision actually buys, is on the magicite page.

Two trophies come out of the esper line: Esper's Covenant for three espers and The Sovereigns of the Planet for all nine.

The last esper is not a dwelling

Bahamut has no tower and no stele. Once you hold the other seven, Fina hears a voice calling from far away the next time you step inside the airship, and Evan sets course. It is a different kind of fight, and it has its own page on how to beat Bahamut.
