Neutral has 37 Creature cards, the fewest of any element, but it holds three of the twelve Extra cards and several of the strongest cards in the game. The Culdcept BEGINS best neutral cards are worth slots because each one does a job no coloured card does.
Culdcept BEGINS Best Neutral Cards: The Standouts
Cost is shown with its deployment requirement; AT and HP are the printed values.
| Card | Cost and requirement | AT / HP | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abyssal Monarch | Extra, 80+ G, discard | 50 / 50/50 | Forbidden Art: 50 damage; at the start of the battle it destroys the opponent's equipped weapon or tool; and it gains Land Effects from territories of any element |
| Onyx | Extra, 100 G | 40 / 40/40 | Neutralizes Scroll Attacks, Critical Hits creatures with 40 or more MHP, and gains Land Effects from any element |
| Bundle Gear | Extra, 250 G | 70 / 70/70 | Anti-Spell and Neutralizes Scroll Attacks; it is reached by supporting a Battle Gear Beta with a Neutral Battle Gear α |
| Colossus | 110 G | 70 / 70/70 | Attacks Last and does not recover from the lap bonus |
| Samurai | 50 G | 50 / 30/30 | A 70% Instant Death against base AT 40 or over |
| Great Fossil | 40 G, discard | 0 / 30/30 | Defensive, the tolls of the territory it stands on become 0, and it revives as a Tyrannosaurus when defeated |
| Wonder Wall | 10+ G, discard | 0 / 30/30 | Defensive and Neutralizes Attacks: a cheap body that stops a whole attack on its own |
| Lunatic Hare | 20 G | 20 / 30/30 | At the end of the battle it swaps the opposing creature's base AT and HP values |
| Borgess | 40 G | 30 / 30/30 | Boost, giving Neutral creatures HP+20 |
| Little Gray | 50 G, discard | 10 / 30/30 | On a successful attack there is a 50% chance of warping the enemy creature to a random empty space |
| Archbishop | 50 G | 30 / 30/30 | A Territory Ability that strips an enchantment from the target creature, and it is immune to Destroy Item and Steal Item effects |
| Battle Gear Beta | 60 G | 20 / 40/40 | Support, Neutralizes Scroll Attacks, and merges into the Neutral Bundle Gear when supported by a Neutral Battle Gear α |
Each of these earns its slot with a specific job: Abyssal Monarch and Onyx are anti-equipment and anti-Scroll answers, Wonder Wall and Great Fossil are walls that cost almost nothing, Archbishop cleans enchantments off a target, and Little Gray pulls an enemy off the board entirely.
Why Most Neutral Creatures Skip the Land Effect
Because most Neutral Creatures do not receive the Land Effect, keep them for jobs no coloured card does — an anti-item wall, a stat monster, an anti-enchantment cleaner — rather than as your landholding core. Onyx and Abyssal Monarch are the exceptions: both take Land Effects from territories of any element. Best element combinations explains where that bonus comes from and how it changes what a card is worth.
Neutral Cards in a 40-Card Book
A Book does not need a full Neutral package, but a couple of Neutral cards buy you problems no coloured card answers. Deck building covers where those slots come from without breaking the 25 Creature, 6 to 10 Item, 4 to 8 Spell split.
