Culdcept BEGINS chapters are a numbered main quest that runs to at least Chapter 16 and ends with a Final Chapter, with side stories numbered separately for each character. The opening stages are training matches that double as the tutorial.
Culdcept BEGINS Chapters: The Campaign Structure
The story follows Kamru, a transfer student at the Royal Cept Academy on the continent of Bavrashka, who is drafted into the Cepter Guard Regiment as the continent faces collapse.
- The main quest is a numbered sequence of matches, each fought on a named board against a named opponent with a set target magic.
- Side stories branch off the main quest per character.
- The opening chapters are training matches against fellow students, and they double as the tutorial for reading the board, the card restrictions and the battle system. One early stage is fought as a memory battle.
- Chapter 4 is the first board rated Difficulty 2.
- Difficulty keeps rising: the target magic stays at 8000 while the opposition and the deck requirements get harder.
- The main storyline, together with the training missions at the academy, takes about 20 hours of play, not counting side content and multiplayer matches.
Culdcept BEGINS How Many Chapters: The Count
- The main quest is numbered in chapters and runs to at least Chapter 16, ending with a Final Chapter.
- The title list proves both ends of the count: Bearer of Legacy is awarded for clearing the Main Quest Final Chapter, and two further titles — Abyssal High Priest along with the ranks Friends from Outer Space, Machine Spirit, Zodiac Beasts, King of the Dragons, Summoner and Assassin from the Abyss — stay hidden until Chapter 16 has been beaten.
- The named milestone chapters inside that run are Chapter 1, Chapter 3 and Chapter 7, which each award a title of their own.
- Side stories are numbered separately per character, so Kamul Chapter #2 and Tarhunt Chapter #2 sit alongside the main quest rather than extending it.
No published list gives every chapter title or a single official total, so the number of individual stages is larger than 16 even though the main quest's numbering tops out around Chapter 16 and the Final Chapter.
Culdcept BEGINS Walkthrough: The Stages You Meet First
Chapter 4 — Verami the Pirate Queen
- Map: Sidamo Port, the classic figure-eight board. Target magic 8000.
- Verami plays Support Creatures (Pirates, Wood Folks, Bandits) and invades aggressively. Her Bandits drain magic when they connect, and her Spells include Holy Word and Fly plus Shatter.
- A player who built Fire and Earth chains beat her in 20 rounds.
Chapter 5 — The Devourers
- Map: Gaidess Arena 1. Target magic 8000.
- Fought against Steam Drill, whose Book is heavy on weapons and whose invasions are relentless.
Side Stories
Clearing Chapter 4 is what opens the rest of the structure: Story Chapter 5 and the side stories Simon's Trial (Kamul Chapter #2) and Departure (Tarhunt Chapter #2) unlock at the same time.
- Departure is a three-player match on Sky Garden in which the protagonist's Book is usable, and the opposition includes the Professor, who steadily raises his Creatures.
- The campaign tracks milestones through a title system that names them directly: Exceptional Cepter for clearing Main Quest Chapter 1, Academy's Ace for Chapter 3, Maiden's Blessing for Chapter 7, Bearer of Legacy for the Main Quest Final Chapter, Guardian of the Continent for completing all Side Stories, and Master Cepter for completing all level-1 Challenge Quests.
Chapter 15: The Wall Most Players Hit
Chapter 15 is the best-known wall of the campaign. It is a special hunt stage in which tentacles are placed on the board from the start and must be destroyed within a set number of turns. The tentacle HP scales down with the number of territories you hold, so the stage gets easier the more board you control.
The Support Deck for Chapter 15
Because the stage is about out-scoring a target rather than holding ground, a purpose-built Support deck is published for clearing it. Best decks and deck codes lists that Book in full, with its code and every card it uses.
What Clearing a Chapter Gives You
- Each chapter hands you the cards its opponent was using — Verami's Shatter, Steam Drill's Drill Lance and weapons — so the campaign feeds directly into your Book.
- The Card Shop opens after Chapter 3 and the pack range widens as the story progresses, so a cleared chapter changes what you can buy. Card packs and the Card Shop has the full unlock schedule.
- Speed controls are available for a faster campaign loop: Auto Mode and 2× speed can both be switched on.
