Isekai Guardians city guard duty: City Guard duty in Astreus is a separate timed assignment from your regular missions. It spends Labor and pays Gold: choose a shift, wait for it to end, then claim your reward. Cancelling forfeits both the Labor you spent and the payout.

Isekai Guardians city guard duty: working a shift

  1. Open the City Guard duty panel in Astreus.
  2. Check the activity restrictions before you take a shift, because duty can prevent other commitments.
  3. Choose a shift and start it. It spends Labor.
  4. Wait for the shift to end on its own timer.
  5. Claim your Gold once the shift completes.

Cancelling is the one option worth avoiding: it forfeits both the spent Labor and the payout, so a cancelled shift is pure loss on both sides of the ledger.

Why duty blocks other plans

Serving a shift keeps you occupied in the same way a mission does. That matters because several things in the game tie you to a place or an activity:

  • A mission can only be started when you are free, and an active duty is a commitment in the same slot.
  • Dungeon participation can prevent travel until you leave or finish the activity.
  • Castle Wars slots, bodyguard duties and guild fishing raids all have their own restrictions.

So the check in step 2 is not paperwork. Take the shift at a time when nothing else needs you, or you will be choosing between them later.

Labor comes from fishing and Brawl searches

Duty spends Labor, and Labor is a separate pool from Energy. The activities that generate it are fishing and searching for Brawl opponents, plus the things that consume it: fishing casts, Brawl searches, and these shifts.

That creates a clean loop. Fish for Labor, spend the Labor on a shift, and spend the Gold the shift pays on whatever your build needs next. The fishing guide covers the Labor-producing side in detail, and the Brawl guide covers what searching for opponents costs.

Spend the payout

The Gold from a shift is ordinary Gold, which is the everyday currency for shops, services, travel preparation and upgrades. The best use of a shift payout is usually the thing you already know you need next: an upgrade at the Magic Anvil, a course at the Academia, or materials for the workshop.

The trading guide covers where Gold goes, including the city shops, the Exchange market and the equipment auctions.

Why duty is worth a slot

  • It pays Gold without touching your Energy, so it runs alongside a mission rather than competing with it.
  • It is repeatable, and the shift length is known before you commit.
  • It converts an idle Labor bar into a predictable payout.

The only real risk is committing at the wrong moment, so pick a shift that fits around your other activities rather than the other way round.
