Isekai Guardians fishing guide: You need an equipped rod, hook and bait before you can cast. Each cast uses Labor, and landing a fish takes the minigame — cast your line, wait for the bite, then follow the on-screen prompts while reeling in.

Isekai Guardians fishing guide: before you cast

  1. Equip a rod, a hook and bait. Having a rod alone is not enough, and the fishing shops sell supplies.
  2. Check your hook's remaining uses. Stronger equipment may require more fishing experience, so a better rod is not automatically a better setup.
  3. Check your bait supply.
  4. Check your Labor, since each cast uses some.
  5. Check your fishing inventory space, because a full basket ends the session whether you are ready or not.

Items 2 to 5 are the ones people miss. You can have a full rod, full bait and still stop fishing because the basket is full or the Labor bar is empty.

Landing a fish

  1. Cast your line.
  2. Watch for the bite.
  3. Follow the fishing minigame's prompts, paying attention to the timing and the on-screen feedback while reeling in.

Your equipment and progression influence the experience, but the catch still needs your input. The minigame is where the fishing happens, and ignoring the timing feedback is the fastest way to lose a good catch.

Progression and rank

Successful fishing builds fishing experience, and the progression screen tracks your rank and your progress toward the next stage. Revisit the shops and fishing locations as you improve, because higher stages open better spots and better gear.

The fishing screen also includes a weekly contest and your catch records, which is worth checking before a session since it tells you what you have already pulled this week.

Keep the good ones for cooking

You can sell fish through the fishing inventory when you want Gold, or keep suitable catches for the artisan kitchen, because fish can be sliced into cooking ingredients there. So check the sale value and the recipe you are preparing before you slice a prized catch.

The artisan kitchen guide covers the recipes, the stoves and the step from a finished dish to a packed trade cart.

Sell the catch

Everything else goes through the fishing inventory, and the price depends on where and how you sell it. A city shop pays in Gold straight away, while the Exchange and the Goods Trader pay more in the right city for the right goods.

The trading guide compares the five places you can trade and explains when a caravan run is worth the travel.

Guild fishing expeditions

Guilds can unlock and build a fishing vessel, schedule trips and register members for deep-sea fishing. The vessel gives trip benefits, needs maintenance between voyages and has a cooldown, so check the guild schedule before departure.

Deep-sea trips are the reason to join a guild early rather than later, since the vessel is a shared build that a solo player cannot unlock.

Making a session count

  • Prepare the whole setup before casting, because supplies are the thing you run out of.
  • Watch the Labor bar as you fish rather than at the end, since Labor is what limits the length of a session.
  • Sort the catch as you go so a full basket does not waste the last few casts.
  • Check the weekly contest and catch records, which occasionally changes which spot is worth your Labor.
