Isekai Guardians lore: The chronicle is the official record of how Celestria came to be, and it runs in five chapters — the Separation, the Twilight, Evermore, Isekai Guardians, and the new era.
Isekai Guardians lore: the Third Vault chronicle
The chronicle is recorded in the Third Vault of Astreus in the Year 1233 After the Separation, by Archivist Halveth Durain, Keeper of the Chronicle, and it leaves its mysteries open.
Chapter 1: The Separation
Twelve hundred years ago the Final War shattered the continent of Panthalor, which the Old Father had first shaped from the void and many gods had watched over. Rather than let the peoples destroy each other, the gods divided the continent into four lands:
- Barundria for the dwarves and the Wise Folk.
- Morathria for demons and the creatures of shadow.
- Aetheria for the half-gods.
- Celestria for everyone no god chose.
Celestria's inhabitants were judged too greedy, too proud, too deceitful and too hostile — humans, elves, half-demons and beastkin respectively. Even Celestria needed a guardian, so the gods joined their power to create Lumina, the Goddess of Light, charged with guiding the rejected civilisations toward unity, and raised a colossal mountain range with the Dark Eye at its centre, the heart of the eternal Manastrom, to keep the continents apart.
Chapter 2: The Twilight
A cataclysmic storm reshaped the newborn continent, and its mana surge unearthed dungeons and created monsters. Lumina forged seven beings from primal elements, the Seven Primal Dragons, to bring balance between monsters, civilisations and the Celestrians, and to inform them of their origin.
Chapter 3: Evermore
Under the Elder Dragons' protection the peoples rebuilt: Astreus was founded in the centre, Elysium in the west, Duskara in the northeast, and the elves stayed hidden in the forests. As the dragons faded they gave fragments of their power to mortal champions.
Then Caelthor turned against the peoples of Celestria. The elves sealed him deep beneath the earth and built Beluria above the sealing chambers, which turned their skin grey and black and made them the Dark Elves. The humans destroyed the half-demon capital and signed a peace treaty with the beastkin, those who refused to fight founded Ostheim, and the House of Arcluna took over Astreus, with Saito Arcluna the First abolishing slavery and letting the half-demons return, followed by seventy years of peace.
Chapter 4: Isekai Guardians
Five years ago the monsters grew aggressive. King Ryobe Arcluna found the Demon King Vorath, a species never before recorded, and the Church of Lumina called out and Lumina did not answer. The Onslaught nearly destroyed Astreus until Beluria and Elysium intervened.
The king's magicians found ancient portal magic in the forbidden archives and opened portals to other worlds. Lumina granted the summoned two gifts: Summoning, which calls forth spirits of those who once lived and binds them as loyal Guardians, and Growth, which lets them evolve beyond mortal limits.
Chapter Z: The new era
The first wave of otherworlders settled. King Ryobe dissolved the Adventurers Guild and founded the Slayers Guild exclusively for the summoned. His eldest son, Crown Prince Shigeru Arcluna, took on more of the governance; Prince Hiroshi Arcluna was put in charge of the Slayers Guild; and Princess Megumi Arcluna was sent to the beastkin's ruling White Hare Clan, whose rival Red Gust Clan watched suspiciously.
Meanwhile a secret cult of Vorath gathered under Astreus, monsters attacked weekly, new Titans appeared in the northern Outskirts, and the Slayers grew strong enough that ordinary folk began to fear them as much as the enemies.
The seal beneath Beluria
Caelthor is the one who turned against his own charge, and the elves who sealed him beneath the earth are the ancestors of the Dark Elves. Beluria was built over the sealing chambers, which is why the city sits where it does.
The Seven Primal Dragons guide names all seven and explains the seal, and it also explains where your own elemental choice comes from.
Where the peoples came from
Celestria is the land the gods left for everyone they had no use for, and its four races are the peoples cast into it. The Celestria guide covers the map, the four cities and the Outskirts that the chronicle mentions.
